I’ve had a bunch of shit heaping up for a while now that I wanted to scan, but the only thing I’ve had to do it with is a shitty 3-in-1 that I fucking loathe. So after putting it off for a good long while, I finally caved and bought a new one. Specifically the Epson Perfection v600, which was one of the more frequently recommended ones I came across while searching, and I gotta say, it is indeed quite awesome. It’s quick and the scans are way better than the aforementioned 3-in-1. Though I do still need a bit of photoshop to tweak the colors, but it’s far less work for a much more accurate and attractive result.
Anyway, on to some scans:
Freckles and gratuitous nakedness <3 These guys were inked and colored recently, though the drawings themselves were a bit dusty. Neither are characters of note–Or at least weren’t meant to be–But the lad with his cock out I inadvertently colored near the same as a character from one of my stories. Though a story I won’t be working on for a very long time(priorities and stuff). I blame the markers. I’ve never actually drawn the character in question, so I guess this is sort of a concept or somethin’ now. As for the ginger qt, he really is just a random dude, but I do have an overwhelming temptation to promote him and use him for something later on. No idea what. But don’t be surprised if he shows up again sometime in the future.
Last set here is a compilation of random dudes I did seven or eight years ago. Still cute though, so I decided to rescan them while I was going. Again nobody in particular and that’s probably how these poor lads are gonna stay.
Armed as I am now with a decent scanner, there’s going to be a bit more art postin’ going on around here. Including things I’ve been procrastinating on, like the TVB character portraits. Though I am going to string those out a little bit, but the first batch will be coming before the end of the month. As always this blog is primarily focused on my original work, especially story related things, but you can catch more sketches, lineart, and rescans of random junk and fanart on my tumblr.
In the mean time I gotta update all the busted, old marker pics in my galleries with sexy, new scans.
The other day I was reading through some of my old webcomics, trying to decide if it was worth keeping them on display in the site’s gallery or not. I did decide to keep them, even if they are a bit on the shit side, but the point of the post is that it also got me thinking about reboots. For Spiritual Soul in particular. I’ve already got some major plans for a complete remake of Leidau as a series of novels(I’ll make a post about it one of these days). But Spiritual Soul has kind of been left to gather dust, which is largely because the story needs loads of work, and by loads of work I mean a complete reimagining.
My first thought was to do something written, ’cause that’s mostly what I’m into these days. But then I started thinking about the possibility of trying it as a comic again. Now, a good while back in 2008 or so, I decided to quit comics because they don’t really work for me. I mean, I love ’em, but I’m such a slow, picky artist, and I’m absolutely abysmal at keeping up with updates(If my extremely sporadic blog updates weren’t telling enough). But reading through got me thinking about trying again. It’s probably just a bit of nostalgia, but still something to think about.
Now, I don’t know if I’ll actually do it. Hell, I don’t even know if I’ll ever do anything new with Spiritual Soul at all, I have a lot of stories lined up already that I’m far more passionate about. But there is a slight temptation there. Perhaps as a side project like what I do with Fuzz & Whimsy. I might have to try fishing around for some ideas sometime and see what I find.
For funsies though, here’s a written remake of the comic’s opening that I did a few years ago:
It’s Vulfrey! Albeit a very bored and possibly disgruntled Vulfrey–Or maybe it’s just resting bitchface. He’s also not in his usual temple whites either, though I’ll leave that for the book. Anyhow, I started this pic late last year, been poking at it off and on for ages now, and finally it’s finished. The plan was to use this for the website launch, and it’s ’bout that time, so I’ll be getting to work on that before too long. Vulfrey’s sneer of boredom will be there to greet everyone.
Far as actual writing progress goes, I finished reading the printed copy(and was quite pleased), but before I start my next edit, I’m going to try to whip up the first draft for book 2. That way there will hopefully not be a terribly long gap after the first one’s release before the second is ready to go. I mean, there’ll still be a year or so between them, but hopefully not much more. I’m lazy and a perfectionist though, so we’ll see. At any rate, there’s not much heavy lifting left to do on The Vessel’s Blood. Some minor additions and touch ups, and it should be ready to go. The worst thing left to do is figure out a cover for the damn thing.
Back to work
and video games. I’ll leave you with this shirtless variant, ’cause I couldn’t resist.
Goddamn, it’s done been a year since I posted anything on here. Hardly feels like it. And I don’t have a whole lot to show for it either.
There is this though. Took a lot longer than it should have, but I finished up the last major rewrite/edit for The Vessel’s Blood. It’s not done yet, but getting damn close. Before too long, I’m going to have to figure out what the hell I want to do for the book cover. At any rate, I printed off this copy as I was going along so that my husband could give it a read and share his opinion. Which was good, surprise surprise. Doubt he’d tell me it was shit regardless. Guess it’s a good thing it’s not shit~
Now that he’s all done reading it though, I’m going to give it a proper go through myself. Should be nice delving into it without being able to give in to all the niggling, little temptations to fix things that one gets while reading in a word processor. First though, I’m taking a few weeks break to work on its sequel a little bit as well as piddle with some other projects. Trying to give myself a little distance. Just a tiny bit. I’m not sure how many pages it all ended up being, but there’s 58 chapters and a bit over 300k words packed in there(Scrivener crashed when I loaded the whole document to see). Gonna be a lot to chew on, but I do appreciate a long story, and hopefully I ain’t the only one.
Anyway, I do believe I mentioned something about character portraits and the TVB website in my very first post last year. Those should be along sometime soonish. Like actually soon this time, not the year away sort.
Can’t be having people mistaking this for a worksafe blog now can we. This pic is a week or so old, but I figured I’d throw it on here since it’s still mildly fresh. A little extra content.
So here we are, a pic of Alex dining on Jorge’s fine booty. If you’ve not been following me elsewhere, these guys are both from my one non fantasy story, Fuzz & Whimsy, which is just about a bunch of gay friends and their silly shenanigans and romantic escapades. An excuse to write porn basically(and draw it).
This one’s actually a little bit of a spoiler, considering Jorge and Alex don’t get together ’til late in the storyline, but whatever. I’ve not really made it much of a secret. There’s going to be a little chapter to go along with this scene eventually too, ’cause I’m sure it’ll be fun to do, but first I gotta write more of the earlier shit. The second chapter is currently baking at least, I just gotta tear myself away from work on TVB sometime to get it wrapped up.
The picture actually started as a scribble of Jorge getting some dick, but after playing around with it a bit in Sai other things started to happen. He probably still got some D afterward though…We’ll see. So far all my Fuzz & Whimsy porn has been Jorge or Alex(or both in this case). I’m going to have to give Zack and Felix some love sometime soon. Though I do have one of Felix and Alex in the works to go along with the recently finished first chapter of the story. ‘Course it’s been in the works for two whole years…but one of these days!
Anyway, there’ll be some new content on the way very soon. In the mean time, enjoy the buffet.
Hello and welcome to my shiny new blog! This is a replacement for my old blogger, mainly because I wanted something new, simple, and on my own webspace. So here we are! I’ll be posting all sorts of crap about my various writing projects ’round here and sharing plenty of art related to them.
To kick it off, I slapped together this little compilation of portraits I’d done for my upcoming novel The Vessel’s Blood. Left to right is Treillim – the grizzled, old guard master, Vulfrey – the sacrificial MC, and Gajdren – Vulfrey’s smarmy bodyguard. I’d actually intended to keep going and do the whole cast like this, but it was taking too damn long for my liking, so I opted to restart in a different style. Here’s a little peek:
This time I went with pen and markers on artist trading cards. I’ve already finished ten(!) of them, but it’s gonna be a bit longer before I share them all. Can’t go blowing the load too soon if you know what I mean… I’ll be starting on the TVB’s website soon though, and then I’ll post up a few more of them. But anyway that’s it for my first post here at Jo’s Junk. There’s going to be plenty more on the way soon with my first book nearing completion and so many other projects on the fire, so keep an eye out.
